  Something to say...

What could be the reason of writing this series? Even I don't know. Sometimes I am unable to believe that I've penned down the story of these legendary characters.

Demon Lord Durbheeksh is not just a character, he represents a common person who only and only desire for respect and justice. Earlier I was having a plan to complete this series within three books, but now if I will do that, the story will be ruined. So now it will be of four parts

  3. Durbheeksh and Durdhara

  4. Rise of Bharatvansh

I just want to say that first part was just a base, that's why I've to finish it in just one book.

But now, it's the actual beginning of this series, where we'll get to know about the rise of the legends like Markesh (Dushal), Vikramajit and Durbheeksh. Also, till now the story was complete fiction, but now this going to be connected with some real mythological characters i.e. 'King Bharat', on whose name our country was named as 'Bharatvarsh'.

As we know, our mythology says that King Bharat of Hastinapur was a Chandravasnhi who united whole Aaryavart and named it as Bharatvarsh. He was son of King Dushyant and Shakuntla (daughter of sage Vishwamitra), and that's all we know about him.

Here I am going to show how Durbheeksh and Bharat are related to each other. And Durbheeksh who had almost forgotten about his pain and the injustice he faced, how it all came in front of his eyes at a moment when he met Sarvdaman (previous name of King Bharat).

Not just this, there are lot of things to be told in this story about various characters.

Well, we all know that this work cannot be handled as a one man army, so firstly I would like to thank my friend 'Abhinav Srivastava' for the editing work of English edition, and tremendous effort of Anjuman Prakshan for the publication and advertisement.

Also I am grateful to my parents, my mother 'Mrs. Anju Srivastava', Father 'Ramesh Chandra Srivastava' and brother 'Harsh Chandra' for the tremendous support. Also I cannot forget my friends Vikas Rai, Vikas Singh, Ayushi Chitransh and Rashmi Pandey for always being with me.

Synopsis - Demise of the Demon King

The crown Prince of Vidarbh 'Vikramajit' visits Balishthgadh, on the occasion of the Swaymwar of Princess 'Chitrlekha'. He killed one of the strongest warrior of the demon's race 'Trikaal Bhairav' and fulfilled the task of this Swayamwar. But King 'Ambrish' of Vallabhgadh, who had lusted eyes on Chitrlekha, could not bear that.

Soon Ambrish teamed up with the 'Demon King Markesh' (elder brother of Trikaal Bhairav). They ambushed Vikramajit, which lead to death of his wife Chitrlekha, and subsequently Vikramajit was cursed by Sage Shanakracharya, due to which he got separated from his son Tejasvi, also he lost his memories. Ambrish was killed, but Markesh survived. After that, Vikramajit who had lost his memories, went to Naaglok, and married the Princess of serpents 'Kanishka', through which he had a son named 'Yugandhar'.

After sixteen years, when Balishthgadh attacks the Vidarbh's clan, Vikramajit meets his son 'Tejasvi' who was fighting for Balishthgadh. When he touched his son, he regained all his memories, and recalled the incident of his wife Chitrlekha's death. When Tejasvi got to know about his mother's death, he vows for his exile until he kills Markesh 'the Demon King'. Vikramajit also went to the dense forest with him. But after eight years, Vikramajit was killed through an ambush, this time by his own brother 'Bhanusen'. Later Bhanusen reveals that he is actually son of the Demon King Markesh who was adopted by father of Vikramajit 'King Bhabhuti'.

Furious Tejasvi rushed to kill Bhanusen, but 'Mahabali Akhand' (son of Bhanusen), 'Suryam' (son of 'Veersen', who was brother of Vikramajit too) came in between to save him. Frustrated Tejasvi returned back to the jungle, as he failed to prove Bhanusen's crime.

After sometime, Tejasvi receives a letter from his childhood lover 'Suvarna' (Princess of Balishthgadh). She requested him to abduct her, as she was getting married to 'Subaahu' (grandson of Demon King Markesh) forcefully. Tejasvi with help of Mahabali Akhand abducts Suvarna, due to which first time he was in front of Demon King Markesh. The duel between them lasted till one whole day. When Tejasvi turned weak in front of Markesh, the army of serpents arrive to help him along with their leader Yugandhar (the leader of serpents and second son of Vikramajit). They defeated Demon King Markesh, but Tejasvi stopped them to kill him, as he was unconscious.

While younger brother of Vikramajit 'Veersen' was declared as new King of Vidarbh. Soon, 'Veersen' was also attacked and was injured severely. To cure him, the presence of the Divine Gem was necessary, which was the heritage of the enemy clan Balishthgadh. Even the greatest warrior of the world could not defeat Balisthgadh, until that Divine Gem is with them. So Tejasvi teamed up wit
h his brothers Yugandhar, Mahabali Akhand (son of Bhanusen) and Suryam (son of Veersen), and went to Patallok in the search of divine Vijay Dhanush ( a warrior who hold this bow, cannot be defeated ever ).

At Patallok, all the brothers were separated from each other through a deceit. Thereafter, Yugandhar meets 'Suvarya' and fell in love with her. While Suryam rescued 'Mahabali Vakrbaahu', who promised him to serve him until the end of his life. Thereafter, all the four warriors gathered along with Vakrbaahu, and rescued one lakh Kshatriya warriors who were the prisoners of the Demon King since years. Thereafter, they built an army and attacked the palace of the Demon King.

The two fierce warriors Tejasvi and Suryam clashed with Markesh, but on the other side Yugandhar was trapped by the Demon's mentor 'Bhairavnath'. To rescue him, his lover Suvarya sacrificed her life, as that was the only option for her. This sacrifice of Suvarya lead to the victory of the four mighty warriors over demon. They forced the Demon King to escape. Thereafter, Tejasvi, lifts up the divine Vijay Dhanush.

Tejasvi and his brothers returned back and defeated the clan of Balishthgadh to get that Divine Gem. Meanwhile, Bhanusen conspire to kill Veersen (who was unconscious), but army chief of Vidarbh 'Gajendra' fails his plan. He along with minister 'Sanjay' succeeds to save Veersen, but Gajendra had to sacrifice his life for it, Bhanusen kills him. Sanjay takes King Veersen to a safe place.

Tejasvi, Suryam, Akhand and Yugandhar returned back. They searched for King Veersen and cured him with the help of Divine Gem. After that, with suggestion of their mentor Tejasvi and Suryam went on to the journey to increase their army strength. While Akhand returned to Vidarbh, and Yugandhar returned to Naaglok. When Akhand returned, Bhairavnath and Bhanusen conspire to turn Akhand on their side, and they succeeded. While Yugandhar takes the dead body of Suvarya to Naaglok, and completes her final funeral.

While during this time, Demon King Markesh was busy in intense austerity to regain his all powers. Now Bhanusen was the King of Vidarbh.

After three years, Demon King Markesh was all set to return back. Tejasvi visited the kingdom of Vidarbh, he was shocked to see the condition of the people. He turned furious and declares war against Vidarbh.

Tejasvi, Yugandhar and Suryam collected the army of Balishthgadh and Nagas to attack on Vidarbh. While the army of Vidarbh was having support of Demon King Markesh and his army.

Balishthgadh was having the fierce warriors like Tejasvi, Yugandhar, Suryam, Veersen, Sage Shankracharya, King Bharagav of Balishthgadh and their sons Raajveer and Vrishbhaan, along with Naagraj Vishandhar and Sanjay. While Vidarbh's clan was having warriors like Demon King Markesh, Mahabali Akhand, Bhanusen, Subaahu.

It was the beginning of the fierce battle. On the third day of war, when Suryam was on the death bed, he evocated 'Mahabali Vakrbaahu' for his help. Before dieing, Suryam takes a promise from Vakrbaahu that he will fight for his brother Tejasvi till the war ends.

The entry of Vakrbaahu made a drastic difference in war. Army of Baishthgadh was dominating in the battlefield. But soon due to a conspiracy, Yugandhar also receives the honour of martyrdom on the fourth day of war.

Finally, on the fourth day, spirit of Vikramajit enters in Tejasvi's body, and kills the Demon King Markesh. As soon as Markesh died, Vakrbaahu suffered through severe head pain, and he left the battlefield.

But the war was still not over, Bhanusen and Akhand continued this war on the fifth day. Tejasvi wanted to kill Bhansen, but Akhand was the biggest barrier. Finally, Tejasvi engages Akhand in a duel, and Veersen kills Bhanusen.

Now the war was over, but furious Kanishka (mother of Yugandhar) stabs Akhand and pushed him into the deep trench, as he was responsible for Yugandhar's death. Tejasvi was stunned, but he couldn't say anything.

Tejasvi returned back to kingdom of Vidarbh, the battle was over. But Tejasvi was still in doubt, what he received from this war. Soon Vakrbaahu reached Vidarbh, and met Tejasvi.

He told Tejasvi that he has gained back his memories as soon as Demon King Markesh died. Meanwhile, Akhand also returned back and was eager to kill Tejasvi. But Vakrbaahu pushed him back to save Tejasvi.

Thereafter, Vakrbaahu tells that he was friend of Markesh. He narrates the story of Markesh (who was earlier known as Dushal). He told them, that he was actually a great warrior, who fought for Dharma in his past, and helped the ancestors of Tejasvi to defeat the Demon Lord 'Durbheeksh', who was proving to be disaster for mankind in the past.

But he turned against human race, because he thought that King Bhabhuti (father of Vikramajit) killed his beloved wife Shivanya (mother of Bhanusen and sister of King Bhabhuti). But it was actually the conspiracy of the demon's mentor Bhairavnath.

So what was those conspiracies? We'll get to know in the second part of this series.

  DUSHAL - The fierce warrior

'Prince Tejasvi is responsible for your son's death, what are you saying Naagdevi?' that troop of serpents was astonished, listening those harsh words of Kanishka.

'Yes, because his eagerness only lead to this huge civil war in Vidarbh's clan, due to which my son Yugandhar is no more in this world.' Kanishka was still furious.

'We know that, we don't have right to utter a word regarding this. But we just want to say that, the actual cause of these destructions was the curse of Sage Shankracharya. He is only responsible for all this, and that is only thing we want to say.' The serpent troop was down on knees with these words.

'I don't want to listen anything, both of them are equally responsible for this. I just want to be left alone for sometime. So, you shall leave.' Kanishka ordered his soldier to leave her alone.

Kanishka was alone in her room, soon she went to the temple of the Kuldevta (the divine god of the clan of Nagas) Dev Sheshnaag. She joined her hands in front of his statue and lied down.

'O Dev Sheshnaag, I am here in front of you today, all alone. No one is there to lead the race of serpents. I don't think that I am capable enough to ascend on the throne of Naaglok. Moreover, I don't have any reason to live, please give me one good reason to survive.' Kanishka was down on her knees and kept mourning in front of the divine god of the clan of Nagas.

After the time of a prahar, she opened her eyes. At the very next moment, she was astonished looking over the statue of Dev Sheshnaag. The divine axe of the great warrior Yugandhar, was in front of her lying below the statue of Dev Sheshnaag. Kanishka stood up seeing this, with eyes were filled with tears.

'I got your indication my lord, I have got your indication. You have given me a reason to live. My son will return, and I will recognize him when he lifts this divine axe, which was your boon to him. Now I will lead the serpent's race, till my son returns.' Her eyes were filled with the tears of joy.

'He will return for a cause, surely there are evil powers, which are still surviving. My son will return to destroy them all. He will return…...' Kanishka joined her hands and turned back and started walking towards the court of Naaglok.

Soon she went to the court of Naaglok, and ascends the throne. She ordered one of the serpents, 'Call all the leading warriors of the serpent's race in this court, as soon as possible.'

'Sure Naagdevi.' That serpent went to follow her command.

Soon all the leading serpent warriors were in the court of Kanishka.

Kanishka stood up from her throne, and announced, 'After this war, we have only fifteen thousand serpent warriors alive now. The serpent's race is almost destroyed during this war, I was also hopeless. But today our Kuldev has given us a hope. A hope for the return of a legend.'
